It seems like every week someone claims that a current event proves the Tribulation is about to begin or that a prophecy expert has discovered the latest clue pointing to Christ’s return.
As Christians, how should we respond?
The answer may be simpler than many realize.
Quick Answer: Are We Living in the End Times?
Yes.
From a biblical perspective, believers have been living in the “last days” since Christ’s first coming (Acts 2:17; Hebrews 1:2).
At the same time, every passing day brings us one day closer to the fulfillment of the end-times events described in Scripture.
Could we be approaching the fulfillment of major prophetic events?
Possibly.
Can anyone know exactly when those events will occur? No.
Jesus said: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” Matthew 24:42 (NIV)
Instead of becoming consumed with speculation, Christ calls His followers to remain faithful and focused on the mission He has already given us.
1. Every Day Brings Us Closer to Christ’s Return
One day, the prophecies concerning the Rapture, the Tribulation, the Antichrist, Christ’s Second Coming, and His Millennial Kingdom will be fulfilled.
Just as Christ’s first coming fulfilled hundreds of Old Testament prophecies, His return will fulfill the remaining promises concerning the future.
Whether those events occur during our lifetime or generations from now, one fact remains:
Every sunrise brings humanity one day closer to God’s prophetic timetable unfolding.
This reality should not create fear. It should create hope.
Jesus is not returning to abandon His people. He is returning to fulfill His promises.

2. Don’t Be Distracted by Headlines, Predictions, or Fear
Throughout history, countless individuals have predicted dates for Christ’s return.
Every one of them has been wrong.
Others have pointed to world leaders, economic systems, technology, pandemics, wars, or political movements as definitive proof that specific prophetic events were immediately at hand.
While current events can remind us that God’s Word is true, they should never become our primary focus. Jesus warned repeatedly about deception.
Fear sells books.
Fear generates clicks.
Fear attracts attention.
But fear does not produce spiritual maturity.
The Christian’s responsibility is not to obsess over every headline. It is to remain faithful regardless of what the headlines say.

When believers become consumed with speculation, they often neglect the very mission Christ entrusted to them.
3. Focus on What Jesus Told Us to Do
The Bible is remarkably clear about our assignment.
Before ascending into heaven, Jesus gave His followers a mission:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19–20 (NIV)
Notice what Jesus did not say. He did not tell believers to spend their lives trying to predict dates. He did not tell us to live in fear of future events.
He told us to:
- Help people.
- Share the good news of Jesus Christ.
- Speak the truth in love.
- Make disciples.
- Teach others to obey God’s Word.
- Encourage believers.
- Serve faithfully until He returns.
Whether Christ returns tomorrow or decades from now, our mission remains unchanged.
Every person we encounter is someone Jesus loves and desires to save.
That reality should motivate us far more than any prophecy chart.
4. Pray for the Harvest
One of the most powerful ways believers can participate in God’s work is through prayer.
Jesus instructed His followers: “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:38 (NIV)
As we look at a world filled with confusion, fear, and spiritual darkness, our prayers should focus on people rather than predictions.
Pray that:
The Lord Sends Laborers
For example: “Lord, raise up your pastors, missionaries, evangelists, teachers, counselors, and everyday believers who will faithfully share the gospel.” From Matthew 9:38.
Hearts Are Opened to Receive the Truth
Paul prayed: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you.” Ephesians 1:18 (NIV)
Pray that those who have never truly heard the gospel will have their spiritual eyes opened to receive Christ and enter His Kingdom.
The Enemy’s Work Is Defeated
The Bible reminds us that spiritual warfare is real.
Yet believers are not powerless.
John wrote: “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11 (NIV)
Pray that the powers of darkness are continually overcome through the finished work of Christ and through the faithful witness of His people.
The Most Important Sign of the End Times
Many people ask: “What’s the most important sign that we’re living in the end times?”
The answer may surprise you. It is not a technological breakthrough. It is not a political alliance. It is not a financial system.
The most important reality is that people all around us still need Jesus Christ.
Every day that passes is another opportunity to share His love, His truth, and His offer of salvation.
The closer we move toward the fulfillment of prophecy, the more urgent that mission becomes.
